A wise man once told me to not worry about the destination or how long it
took to get there, but to enjoy the journey for it was the best part of the
experience.
I try and keep this uppermost in my mind and it does not always work. Having
had the opportunity to sit back and watch the group dynamics of this as well
as several other groups over the years, I can positively affirm that this
group is a growing vital part of the evolving BDSM lifestyle. This group is
a cross section of our community and no one seems to be offended about other
groups being involved. We have young, old, new, fresh, stately, upper,
lower, elders, Straight, Twisted, Bent, GLBT, not GLBT, and probably a
flavor or two I have left out unintentionally.
I would encourage you two to reflect on the fact that YOU brought these
people together. No one else has stepped up to the plate and said " lets do
this". You have brought a much needed new perspective to the entire
community. People from walks of life that have nothing in common are brought
together from a love of rope and a chance to learn FROM YOU!. This is a
sacred trust that you have willingly taken on. There will come a time when
you wonder why the hell you are doing all of this <G>. ( don't ask <G> just
trust me on this <G>). Then you will remember the wonder and joy you feel
every time someone walks up and asks how you make it look so easy, etc. It
is humbling to know that people look up to you as the expert when you know
you are just a student.
I respectfully wish to add my voice to all of those who are telling you "
WELL DONE " " WELL DONE".
Thanks for keeping it fun, for crossing the self imposed lines we put in our
lifestyles and most of all for being the exciting fun people you are.
Thank you for teaching me.

Now that we have hosted our first major event we
wanted to give some reflections from the past year. It
was just over one year ago jen and I came up with this
crazy idea. We were looking to find a few people who
might be interested in getting together with some rope
and tie with us occasionally.
So we decided to contact a very good friend, Jimi Tatu
and ask how to go about finding some people. We posted
to the Adult Rope Arts list and some wonderful people
in Texas (Thanks Gary) and St Louis (Thanks lily) gave
us some wonderful ideas, advice so we started a yahoo
group called West Michigan Rope. Tatu sent us all
their legal paperwork to use and a fine man by the
name of Master Samos volunteered his time and person
to help. (What a crazy fool *L) The advice got us
going and the end of January, one month later we
hosted our first ever West Michigan Rope meeting in
Holland.
Honestly our goal was to have 25-30 local people on
the yahoo list and hopefully 10 at the meetings to tie
with and learn from each other. Well that first
meeting brought us 28 people from all over. As we
write this letter, we have 211 members online at the
yahoo group and more importantly we have had 96
different people attend at least one practice session.
We had a high of 37 at the September meeting in the
"barn" and 36 at the recent Gray Dancer event. To say
we are ecstatic about those results is a total
understatement. We are amazed, excited, humbled, and
very happy to have all the interest in the group.
It has been a lot of work, and trying at times getting
meetings together, but all of it well worth the
effort! We have met some truly wonderful, giving,
friendly and fun people through WMR people. Many of
which we call our friends. So many of you have shared
ideas and given us items to use. We have learned a
great deal this year is so many ways and from so many
people.
Rope connects people in ways many will never
understand. It is fun, sadistic, sensual, romantic,
versatile, and can produce truly amazing results. We
love rope and feel blessed to know so many more people
than we did before. WMR is a labor of love for us and
we are truly honored to be among other like minded and
very cool people. We do not have a mansion, we do not
have a lot of money, but we have some great kids, a
wonderful family and now some wonderful rope friends,
could life be any better?
Lets hope 2008 brings us all some wonderful surprises
and great rope!!!!
