What a polygraph does is achieve precisely
the same dynamic as the school principal summoning a group of kids to the
office and demanding that they confess because he knows they did it, and
things will go worse for them if they don't confess.
I remember that one.....the spit balls obviously came from the back of the
class and I was one of the kids who, by virtue of their last name, i.e. end of
the alphabet, sat in the back row, along with the two class bully.
They questioned bully one, He says he didn't do it, so they let him go. They
question bully two, he didn't do it, so obviously I did.
I could tell similar stories about probate court. I have the ex who claimed
in probate court she should get all personal property because I wouldn't talk
to her about a settlement while the same week telling criminal court she
should get a permanent restraining order because I harassed her on the phone.
One can't rely on arrests or convictions, particularly in the case of
relationship assault / abuse where a very large percentage of complaints are false
and findings are always against the male.
