The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom is a national organization
committed to creating a political, legal, and social environment in
the United States that advances equal rights of consenting adults who
practice forms of alternative sexual expression. NCSF is primarily
focused on the rights of consenting adults in the SM-leather-fetish,
swing, and polyamory communities, who often face discrimination
because of their sexual expression.

That is the full mission statement including the part I accented that
covers in my mind the cases of
"commercial-sense" based discrimination. What they and we should be
doing (and are by discussions
like this :) is education to beat back the illogical discrimination
practiced by some ""commercial-sense" based discrimination
policies. Educate the public including the "conservative base" is
how we as a nation
accomplished our most significant goals of freedom for all. This
includes but is not limited to

Realizing that slaves are people too.
Realizing that women are people too.

From that realization came changes in how society in general treats
those sub groups of humans.

Those that were slaves that did not want to be were freed.
Those that wanted to started voting and or became presidents of
corporations etc

In just the past 20 years societies attitude about BDSM has changed
every bit as
drastically. Everywhere? no. Then again the attitudes listed before
did not change
everywhere at once. But progress thru various educational media did
accomplish the
changes. The laws that were passed to force the holdouts were not
strictly necessary.
Society was and is changing to be better able to handle our differences.

This is not to say there are not those who would rather change back
to ways that
were not so free for individuals but our greatest strength is still
our diversity and our
acceptance of diversity. Even our acceptance of those who would not
want to allow
us to have diversity. We accept their right to believe not their
right to force us to
believe their way.
