It boils down to what is considered a reason for dismissal. I take you do not consider,"I no longer require your services", a reason for dismissal?
O BTW there is no such thing as a "fire at will" state.

Well, opinions probably differ, but while I'm not too fond of government
interference in peoples private lifes, I'm quite happy that I *don't*
live in a "Fire at will state". Even though our labour laws might be a
little too protective at times, I think basically it's good that, down
here, my employer actually needs to provide a good reason to fire me.
